Teachers as Civic Leaders Teaching in the Face of Politics, Power and Conflict
As students to learn to be citizens in democratic society, teachers must have opportunities to think together about the challenges of citizenship and develop as civic leaders. In this free public event for teachers, parents, and students, Joel Westheimer will discuss powerful ways to teach children and young adults to engage critically, think about social issues, and participate in authentic debate that acknowledges that intelligent adults can have different opinions.
ISBE credit hours available.
Copies of Joel’s book, What Kind of Citizen: Educating Our Children for the Common Good, will be available for purchase.
